Website Development for Small Business Owners
While most services for small businesses are offered at no cost to our clients, we do charge for workshops to cover our own costs; and for several years, the Rock Hill Area office of the Winthrop SBDC Region has provided an extra service assisting small business owners by creating websites . We have done this for a token payment of $150-$250, depending on the needs of the business owner. This additional service is not offered in every SBDC, but we feel strongly that it is a necessary service to aid in marketing for the modern entrepreneur. You cannot successfully open or grow a new business in the 21st century without an online presence. NOTE: This service is available only to clients whose businesses are up and running and ready for a website.
As it turns out, business owners agree and when learning of this service, they have flocked to our office to have sites built, and understandably so ..... the token payment is a small fraction of what website designers charge, and we take care of search engine optimization for local searches as well. That is not offered in the basic web design rates for many web designers. The result is that we have been overwhelmed with clients wanting websites .... something that keeps us away from our main focus of consulting with clients on business planning, financial reviews and analysis, marketing assistance, and other growth-related services. For this reason, we have decided to make some changes.
As of July 1, 2016, we will no longer be able to create websites at that old rate. It is simply not cost efficient for the many hours involved, and the fact that we have only two consultants able to do this work. Our new policy, cost schedule and approximate time frame for building websites is as follows:
